‘The Business of Winning’ Publication Date Nears!

In the coming weeks my book ‘The Business of Winning’ will be published by Kogan Page in London, and I am very much looking forward to being able to share with readers business insights from the world of Formula One motor racing. My approach to deciding on the contents was to look at the topics which I am most often asked to speak about, and then to commit a full chapter on each; giving my personal take on them, providing case studies and examples from within Formula One, and drawing on my observations of working with some of the most talented people in this fascinating sport.

Leadership, Team Work, Communications, Innovation, Performance Management, Brand Building, Change Management and Safety/Risk Management; these are the themes and topics that more than 300 companies from a wide range of business sectors around the world have invited me to speak about over the last 15 years.

I have also taken the opportunity to give a broad overview of Formula One and why I believe it is a microcosm of global business, almost a barometer from within the world of sport for the companies and countries which are going places.

For Formula One aficionados I have including not only examples of business excellence involving some of the top teams and drivers, but also a chapter of anecdotes gathered from my career working on the management teams at Jordan Grand Prix, Red Bull Racing and Cosworth.

So whether it is an insight into the leadership style of Red Bull’s Dietrich Mateschitz, the team work required to complete a Formula One pit stop in 1.923 seconds or a tale of once having Eddie Irvine as a lodger, hopefully there will be something of interest for readers fascinated by business, the sport of Formula One, or both.
