Status Grand Prix
Founded in 2005, Status Grand Prix Ltd is co-owned by Mark Gallagher and won the 2009 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport for Ireland before progressing to GP3, the new feeder series to Formula One. The team was initially founded to run A1 Team Ireland in the A1GPl series in 2005, the only worldwide open wheeled racing series other than Formula One, and during its four years in this category Status was also asked to operate the entry for Canada in 2007/08 and Holland in 2008/09.
The team enjoyed a highly successful season in 2007/08, scoring victories in South Africa and Mexico, while in the 2008/09 season the team took a commanding lead in the championship after outright wins in the grands prix in China, Malaysia and New Zealand, and went on to clinch the World Cup of Motorsport title at Brands Hatch in May 2009. With the title under its belt Status successfully tendered for a hotly contested entry into GP3 for 2010, and emerged as championship leaders from the opening round in Barcelona, Spain, in May 2010.
